Many families may be wondering what the answer is. We have provided this document to give you a quick but thorough understanding about the Board’s work. Unlike a public school board which is regulatory, a Catholic school board is consultative in nature. It operates in the policy-making process by formulating and adapting policy.
The Diocese of San Diego describes why the church needs school boards today.
The St. James Academy Advisory Board participates in decision-making in designated areas of responsibility. These areas include planning, policy formulation/enactment, finances, the selection or appointment of the principal, development including public relations and marketing, and evaluation. As recommended by the Diocese, the Board guided by the diocese drafted and approved its constitution in 1998.
