“Let Me Be As Christ To You”
One more "Heart" message and then on to Lent! Actually this could be a good lead in: Love is important to all of us. We spend our time on earth engaged in so many activities, but in the end, it all comes down to love. We are seeking a place in life where we can safely love and be loved. We were made for love, and we all hope for a love that never ends and accepts us just as we are. This is the love of Christ for us. When we journey with Christ, we learn what real love is, what it requires of us and how it gives us hope for the future.
Tomorrow we continue a wonderful St. James Academy outreach tradition. Grades Kindergarten through sixth will host their class baby showers with the gifts going to prolife agencies helping 'moms in crises.' Jr. High will have their own 'shower' to help the children of Haiti by collecting cash- only donations. All students must be in uniform or "party" style of dress with the emphasis on Valentine Day colors. Please, no jeans, shabby T-shirts,etc.
Another huge thank you to our hot lunch volunteers! We just received another check from Ki's for $740! That takes our grand total to date to $1200!
Just a reminder that school is closed this Friday, Monday and Tuesday. We will return on Ash Wednesday and attend 8:00 Mass with the Parish. Please remember to have students in their dress uniforms for Mass. Have a safe holiday!
"HUNGRY TO HELP HAITI"-VIRTUAL DINE-OUT: Thank you for your generous response to our brothers and sisters in Haiti. They continue to need our support. It is suggested that we prepare a simple meal at home one evening and donate what you might have paid for a dinner out at a restaurant to relief efforts in Haiti. During your meal, please pray for all of those affected by the earthquake and the tireless workers striving to provide relief. Discuss with your families Catholic Relief Services call to "stand with us as one human family and a community of faith at this difficult moment in our world's history." Please give your donation to your teacher or the school office (Make checks payable to Saint James and write Haiti in memo or make check directly to Catholic Relief Services). Please see the attached flyer for suggested menu and prayer.
Another option to support Haitian relief: Prayer bracelets will be available for purchase tomorrow in your child's classroom for $2. They come with a prayer and all proceeds will go to Catholic Relief Services. Students may wear the bracelets on campus tomorrow only.

The 31st annual SJA Gala, The Gallery, is only six weeks away! Have you purchased your tickets yet? Save $25 by purchasing them before March 1st! All donations are due by March 1st. What is your family donating? Please check out the Gala website and fliers online. Keep in mind that this great event supports many wonderful programs at the academy for your children. We hope to have 100% participation from our academy families. Thank you.
Don't forget about our Lenten Friday Fish Feasts beginning next Friday, February 19th. On Friday, February 26th SJA Teachers will be preparing and hosting the dinner. Please come and enjoy a wonderful St. James Parish community tradition. Reservation forms are online.
This is your final reminder that yearbook ads are due TOMORROW, February 11th. The yearbook will be sent to the publisher over the February break.
