Principal Mrs. Kathy Dunn“Let Me Be As Christ To You”

Welcome to Week 2.  It seems I started our 2nd week off with a bang, and for that I am sorry.  The word of President Obama’s speech from the diocese came so late in a very busy week for me.  It wasn’t until I was out running Saturday morning (I frequently become much more clear-headed while working out!) that I realized that I wanted to inform you of the plans to air the speech in some classrooms Tuesday.  The notice was very late, not as complete as I might have wished and took some of you by surprise.  I apologize.  I do, however, greatly appreciate your understanding, supportive words and the thought which you put into making the best decision for your family.
Back to School Night is this Thursday, a Parents only event beginning at 6:00pm in the Parish Hall.  We will serve light refreshments until 6:30 and then begin our program.  The evening will include a brief general presentation in the hall and then two sets of classroom presentations by the teachers. We will conclude by 8:00pm. I hope to see all of you there!

Important!  Our contract with J&O (formerly known as 2 Dog Catering) has ended.  Expect refund checks in the mail for orders already placed.  Please let me know if you do not receive yours. I plan for information on our new hot lunch program to be available tomorrow.

End of Day pick-up procedure change: Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, 7th and 8th graders ONLY may be picked up in the back of the school.  For those of you with younger siblings, they will still need to be picked up in the front for now.  Again, I appreciate your patience as I work to insure student safety.

The magazine drive and cookie dough sale will kick off today!  The sale will run for two weeks, with money and forms due 9/23/09.  There is also a need for assistance tabulating orders on 9/23 at 9am.  Also announcing: Clip and save Box Tops from all of your favorite Betty Crocker, General Mills and Kimberly-Clark products.  Each Box Top is worth 10 cents for our school.  Check out the Box Tops website at www.boxtops4education.com for additional information and coupons for participating products.  Box Tops can be turned in to the school office.  Please contact Joanna Costello at jc14@att.net with questions or offers of help.

We have posted the Scrip grocery card registration forms on the website.  We are aiming for 100% participation!  The first class to have 100% participation of grocery card registration will earn an ice cream party.  To be eligible, forms must be returned no later than September 18; the ice cream party will be September 25.  Only one form is required per family; students in all grades indicated on the form will be credited.

Congratulations!  ALL student forms have been turned in!  Thank you.

SJA hats-Youth size only-$10 in the school office or at True Grits.

CYT Music Man auditions flyer attached.

Friday, Sept 11, 8:00am: 8th Grade will be assisting with the Liturgy.  Please join us.

Particularly as we approach the anniversary of 9/11 and in light of our raised passions earlier this week: We pray for God’s peace, the peace that doesn’t keep score, the peace that forgives all weakness and is bigger than any wrong a person can do to us.  May we look honestly at ourselves and compassionately at others.  Grant us courage and hope, encourage and strengthen us to always do what is good and lead us into a greater understanding of Your love for us.  Amen

Thank you, Mrs. Dunn
