“Let Me Be As
Christ To You”
A
wonderful day! Thank you to the 20th
Annual St
James Academy Golf Tournament Chairs Brian and Debra Brady, Bernie
Clark, and
Steve and Rose Simon, committee members and volunteers who worked long
and hard
to create such a successful event.
It was
a fun-filled day of community and
support for our students.
Teacher Conference
Sign-up Sheets will
be on a table outside the Day
Care Room beginning tomorrow, October 22nd
through October 30th. If you have not
signed up for a conference
time by October 30th you will then need to
contact the teacher. 7th
and 8th grade
conferences will be with the individual homeroom teacher. If you wish to request a
conference with one
of your Jr. High student’s other teachers, there will be a sign-up
sheet
available to request a meeting.
Junior High parents
please note that
there will not be early morning
supervision the week of parent conferences.
If your child arrives on campus before 7:45, he or she
will need to
report to daycare.
As many of you are aware, the cold and flu season is upon us.
If you have a member of your household with a compromised
immune system
please contact me (Mrs. Dunn) either by phone or email at principalsja@yahoo.com. This will enable the
school to personally
notify you if a family member of someone in your child’s class has been
diagnosed with H1N1 so that you may take the proper precautions. If any student or staff
member in our school
is diagnosed, everyone will be notified.
We seem to have a fairly good system going for
after school
pick-up. Thank you! Now we need to work on morning drop-off.
First,
please slow down! Second,
please stop at
the crosswalk! Third,
please be extra
diligent if you are going to drive in the “second/left lane”!
Free
Dress tomorrow
for those families that contributed their time and/or treasure to our
Golf
Tournament. If you
have questions
regarding appropriate free dress please check the handbook on line or
your
school calendar/handbook. Thank you for your support!
Next Wednesday,
October 28th is class picture day. Students must be in
dress uniform; long school pants for boys K-8, girls K-3 in uniform
jumpers,
girls 4th -8th in uniform
skirts.
The annual Student
Council Halloween Carnival is Friday, October 30th
from 12:15-2:30.
All SJA families and siblings are welcome. Just
a few reminders re: costumes. We
love creativity! However, costumes must be
appropriate for a Catholic school. No
extreme gore or violence should be represented; no roller blades or
skateboards; costumes must be comfortable for the children to wear all
day
long. The Parade of
Costumes takes place
on the blacktop promptly at 8:00a.m. and lasts approximately 15
minutes.
Children will be able to eat lunch in their classroom before the
carnival or
they may purchase a hot dog or hamburger at the carnival. Take a moment
and
preorder your tickets now!
Don’t forget to buy
Scrip! Thanksgiving
is right around the
corner! Where will
you be purchasing
your turkey? How
about some new
tableware? Turkey
roasting pan? Check
out all of your choices at https://www.shopwithscrip.com/:
Vons, Henry’s, Honey Baked Ham, William Sonoma, Crate and Barrel, Home
Goods,
Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc. And
remember, 25% of the revenue generated by your scrip purchases may be
credited
towards your tuition expenses for next year!
Both
SJA and your family will
benefit through your shopping with Scrip.
(Scrip orders received by 8:00 am on Monday
will be delivered on Friday.)
In this week’s “Why
do Catholics do that?” find out why Catholics give
the Sign of Peace during
Mass.
1st
grade
will be assisting with the Liturgy. Please join us for 8:00a.m. Mass
this
Friday and stay to pray a decade of the Rosary in support of respecting
all
life.
