“Let Me Be As Christ To You”
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” This verse from Matthew gives me great hope for our future. We give special thanks today for our veterans who have served our country, working for peace.
At St James we strive to be children of God, to be responsible citizens, to be respectful of all life, to be as Christ to all. We will continue our education process by beginning our bully prevention program this month. Please read the letter containing details that is posted to our website today.
Emergency Preparedness: We are working with the Fire and Sheriff Department to update our safety plan. One of the suggestions is to create a list of parents with special skills that we might call upon in an emergency. The reasoning is that if there is a large scale emergency, public response teams will be stretched very thin and may not be able to get to us quickly. Please let me know if you have special training and would be willing to be on our emergency response team.
Jr. High Honor Roll certificates will be distributed at the morning assembly this Monday, November 16th.
Parent Teacher Conferences begin today. There is noon dismissal today through Friday. There will be day care until 5:30 for St. James Academy students only.
Flu season is upon us. While we have had a fairly steady stream of students out sick, it is minimal and I think we are holding our own. Please continue with all preventative measures!
Also of note (forgive me): frequent hand washing can help combat the spread of germs. Bath and Body Works has great anti-bacterial soaps and is offering a whopping 18% rebate for all gift cards purchased before 12/4 (usual rebate is 13%). Please get your scrip orders in by Monday morning for delivery on Friday! Scrip-to-go will continue to be sold on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons plus any time you see the lady with the funny hat. Thanks for your continued support. Scrip order forms are always online!
The Book Fair continues through this Friday in the school library!
Thank you to all who attended the Gala Kick-off Breakfast Tuesday morning. The Gallery/Gala 2010 promises to be a very special event. Please lend your support!
Eighth grade will be selling poinsettias for the holidays. Please take a moment to look at the flyer on our website and in your student’s homework folder. Thank you to the Jess Family for their help with this.
You are invited to 8:00a.m. Mass Friday. Seventh grade will be assisting with the Liturgy.
In this week’s "Why do Catholics do that?" find out about Canon Law.
