I again offer you one of my favorite Christmas prayers along with my wish that you all enjoy a blessed Christmas. Relax and enjoy your families and the special times together. You are all gifts to me each and every day. I treasure my time with you.

God of great gentleness, in love you give us the Christmas gift to be our joy and delight. Hold us close to each other. Unite us in spirit with those who have died and with those who are distant. Gather all your children in Bethlehem, where we will join with Mary and Joseph, with the angels, with the cattle and the sheep, and with all the stars of heaven in singing your praise: Glory in heaven and peace on earth, now and forever.

Christmas Program
Our annual Christmas Program will be held tomorrow evening, Thursday, December 15th at 7:00p.m. in the church. Students are to be dropped off to their classrooms at 6:30 and church doors open at 6:45. Please see the guidelines posted below regarding class color schemes and appropriate attire to wear. Please remember that there is to be no video or flash photography at the Christmas program as this distracts from the pageant and disrupts other people enjoying the program. Thank you for your consideration. Rendezvous Video Productions, a professional video company, has once again agreed to capture our Christmas program and make DVDs available for sale. Please see the flyer posted below. And once again, congratulations to the Sims family on being the winning bid at last year's Gala for 'reserved' Christmas Program seating and parking spot!

The first Wednesday in January there will not be a family communication envelope coming home. It will be sent home the following Wednesday, January 11, 2012.

Family Night of Prayer

Save the date! Spell-a-Thon
January 25, 2012! We are pleased to announce the return of the SJA Spell-a-Thon, a very successful fundraising event we held for the first time last year! This is a unique way to raise funds for our school while promoting academic excellence. Word lists for each grade and pledge sheets will be sent home through the classroom on January 11th. Word lists may also be found under Fundraising over the Christmas break for those that would like to get a head start. Thank you in advance for you support and participation! Any questions? Casablanca Gala Update
We received our first Underwriting donations for our 2012 Casablanca Gala! Thank you to the Flores family for their donation of underwriting the wine, the Somers Family for their donation of underwriting the cocktails, and thank you to the Schreiber family for their donation of underwriting two of our teachers! Please see the 'Ideas for Donations' listed below and keep these in mind as you are doing your final Christmas shopping at your favorite vendors. No item is too big or too small!

True Grits Uniform Store
Please note that True Grits store in Mira Mesa will be closed from December 19th through January 3rd.

We are so excited to have 75 SJA students from Kindergarten through 4th grade signed up to participate in the Pee Wee Soccer League beginning in January.

Please note that this Friday is noon dismissal and there is NO AFTER SCHOOL DAY CARE.

Hot Lunch Server needed from 11:30-1:00 every other Wednesday. This is a great way to get your service hours. You will be working with someone who knows all the ropes to this job. Thank you!

Lost and Found drawers are overflowing again with this colder weather! Please double check that the sweatshirt, sweaters, etc., that your child brings home belongs to them and is not another student's that was mistakenly picked up.

Some of you may hear that we went into a modified lockdown briefly this morning. It was a cautionary decision I made to insure our students' safety as I worked to collect information. As I understand it at this point, Sante Fe Christian was put into lockdown this morning because of a nearby drug bust. I don't know if the resulting search for a man described by the sheriff's department as a 27 year old white male… was related but we did have helicopters circling and announcing the search. We heard the all clear about one hour later. We brought the students up from the church (practice for the pageant) and car-pooled the 1st and 2nd graders up from La Vida del Mar (caroling). All students were calm and helpful. We are now frantically working to get rehearsal back on schedule!
