Athletic Virtues
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Prov. 27:17
God uses the vessel of sport to transform lives. Ultimately, whatever your role or record, the truth remains it is all about the relationships we build with God and one another, and how God uses our experiences to make us more like Jesus. These are the foundational beliefs behind everything we do within the SJA Athletic Program. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as you love yourself." Luke 10:27

Peewee
Saint James Academy offers every student the opportunity to participate in athletics. Kindergarten through fourth grade students can play Pee Wee soccer in the San Diego Catholic League. Third and fourth grade students may also participate in Pee Wee basketball. The annual San Diego Catholic League cross country meet and track meet are great opportunities for students to join.
Boys
Our fifth through eighth grade boys can compete in football, basketball, soccer and volleyball against other North County Catholic schools. Once in sixth grade, students have the opportunity to join the surf team. All students may participate in the San Diego Catholic League annual cross country and track meets. Junior High students may also compete in the NCPL beach volleyball tournament.
Girls
Saint James Academy girls in fifth through eighth grades can join the volleyball, soccer and basketball teams which compete in the NCPL. Fit to Lead
In our world today, where endless information is available at our fingertips, it truly is the ability to work together as a team that is the distinguishing factor in success. Saint James students are becoming "Fit to Lead" - healthy in every aspect of their lives - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, relationally. The Fit to Lead physical education curriculum is designed to intentionally empower students in their leadership, team building and conflict resolution skills. Students also grow in movement literacy, athletic skills, self-defense, health & nutrition, and their faith through physical activity in P.E. classes.
